It sure seems likely, though that implies to me that personality can be a genetic trait in certain respects. If the part of our brain that fears dark has had greater survivabilty, and as a result has continued on throughout the human race in the form of genetic memory, then it makes as much sense that so did many other traits. Those cultures who killed and enslaved other races of men surely lived longer and boasted greater populations, thus we may in the same token assert that racism should for all intents and purposes be good, yet the people who committed such acts rather quickly became the same people that fought to the death to oppose them on moral grounds. If we fear dark for the purpose of survival, then hatred would mostly fit into the catagory of good. Or, as another example, those men who were violent and domineering have throughout a great portion of history had successful blood lines, the romans in fact only survived as a result of the infamous rape of the sabine women. Surely we abhor such acts today, perhaps it is not simply that those who survived being eaten as a result of fire came to revere the light, there are those who are greatly comforted by darkness, viewing that as the more noble and gentle. In terms of physical attributes, it may very well be, in fact it is most likely, almost undoubtable, that we are given what helped our ancestors to thrive. In terms of mental attributes, perhaps we are born with those mental attributes, but they are easily resisted, and likely in my mind at least that such things come from our own experiences, not to say this is entirely true, the very fact that we have such complex brains proves that we inherit a gread deal of attributes, like the capability to fear, but what we fear is a result of the way our brains develp over the years, the way our synapses fire, and I don't know that as a baby not yet born, I would have a difficult time if I feared the dark, being that I don't so much as take a peak through my eyelids. If you've ever heard of so called "feral children" there was a story done about a couple of indian girls raised by wolves that acted like wolves. This shows a strong possibilty that we aren't so hard wired from birth, not if a man or women may possess only the fears, only the joys, only the hunts of another species all together.
