Aikido is a fantastic form of martial arts, IMHO, because it doesn't rely on strength or size. The goal is to achieve balance and get your attacker off balance. It is a more peaceful form of martial arts that relies on ki (known to the Chinese as chi) and the centering of the mind and body. Taken in conjunction with T'ai Chi and Yoga it's a serious powerhouse for improvement of both mind and body. I took Aikido before I moved into my new home, and since that purchase money has been tight. I hope to get back into it one of these days and I stay on the dojo's emailing list in that spirit. Here are some good links on this martial arts: www.aikiweb.com/www.aikido.com/www.aikidofaq.com/And here's the dojo that I very much want to return to: www.neaikikai.org/I may be able to swing the weekend rate once my debts and whatnot are squared away. ~Alena

I'm myself practicing the aikido, aikibudo, aikijujitsu, kendo and kobudo. So far the style the most useful still be the aikido since that made to keep control on your opponment winthout hurt him and keeping you safe.
