How did I come to be a force user? I've immersed myself in many paradigms over the years. Ceremonial Magick, Qabala, Goetic Evocation, Thelema, Chaos Magick, Shamanism, Taoism, Buddhism... the list goes on and on. When I stumbled upon this site I found something that I had thought of creating many years ago, but had neither the time nor the resources to do so. And so I'm quite happy that the path of the Jedi has leaked into the world from the realms of imagination.
I consider myself, first and foremost, as a warrior. Whether my weapon is my fists, an M4 carbine, a sword, or my intellect, I am always preparing for battle. This comes from the blood of my ancestors, my mixed mercurial/martial nature, my training as a soldier, and my unquenchable thirst for knowledge. The world is a volatile place, and any situation has the possibility of blowing up in your face. It's best to be prepared.
So within the paradigm of the Force, would I be a follower of the Light side or the Dark side? Jedi or Sith? I think both paths are two sides of the same coin. In Hermetics this is called the principle of polarity... Light and Dark, hot and cold, long and short... where does one end and another begin? All are aspects of the same thing. So I cannot ignore one side in preference of the other. The Light side and the Dark side are BOTH the living Force... and therefore must be embraced.
I believe strongly in balance, but I don't want to be misunderstood. Balance is a concept to strive for, but an impossibility to achieve... nor would it be advisable to do so. Balance is perfect equilibrium, which implies no change... no change equals stagnation, stagnation equals decay and death.
So I follow the path of the shadow... in silence and solitude. I would call myself a Sith, but only because some of my ideas are outside the traditional boundaries of the Jedi... but labels are just that... convenient names and nothing more.
I look forward to corresponding with you all, and hope a mutual sharing of ideas will be fruitful.
May the Force Be With You,
Xaosoul
