Be careful not to mix these two. Something else that is often done is that people turn a belief into fact. I have found in the Jedi community along with many other religions is that something scientific with empirical proof could never be factual because it comes from the scientific community. It doesn't matter what it says but it can't be true. The reason most often given why it isn't true is because I can do otherwise. Well what I find in life is you might think one thing is the cause because of what you see or feel but in actuality it is a series of events that lead to the cause giving you the impression that it is really more simplistic when it really isn't. I'm am extremely guilty of being over analytical at times. As a teacher it's a good thing but for some other things I do it can actually hold me back. As with most things it has its plus and negative side. Anyway, just because it sounds simple doesn't mean it is. Many times you here people say the simple answer is the correct answer. Sometimes that thought process is correct and sometimes it isn't. Many times when you look into something at a deeper level many new realizations are seen. Many times people will put their beliefs over what is been shown factual. I understand that sometimes facts can be reached from flawed information or research. I am not saying we should believe everything as fact from the scientific community or from anywhere else. Also, in many circumstances a belief is and can be a fact. I feel that if more people would approach a task, information, or anything else with a more scientific mind you might be surprised at what you learn.
Now what do I mean by a scientific mind? I mean that we always ask more questions even when we think we have the answer. Learning is a circle and never ends. We keep asking the question to others or to ourselves of how and why. Many scientific discoveries that have been shown wrong are not actually wrong but have been findings that have evolved. Facts or agreed upon conclusions are drawn from current knowledge and technology. As both of these improve, we can look even deeper and might discover something we couldn’t see before. For an extreme example, at one point in time people thought the Earth was the center of the universe. Were they wrong? In a way they weren't because those theories were very educated based off the knowledge and technology they had at the time. Looking back from today, yes they were wrong but at the time what proof otherwise were there. Know we know that we are not at the center because of advances in technology, which have led to advances in knowledge. Who knows what we might learn about the universe over the next 30 years that we thought was completely factual now but due to advances we learned there was more to it then we were originally able to see. So does this mean the original theory was wrong, no, based off the knowledge of the time it wasn't! Facts, knowledge, and technology are always evolving which lead to an evolution in our knowledge.
Now I know I will ruffle a few feathers with this but it's never stopped me before…LOL!! I have read many claims in the Jedi community of people being able to float or move objects along with some other pretty extravagant things that they can supposedly do. Do I believe some of these things are possible, yes, do I think anyone I've talked to can actually do them, no!! If you say you can, then prove it. I have no problems being shown otherwise and will readily admit I was wrong. If as many people that are claiming they can do this things actually could there would be a lot more video of these claims along with a lot of attention. Just think if it became known that someone could move something. Even if it was moving a penny a quarter on an inch you would still draw a lot of attention. Now, I also believe the old stories of Monks and others that could do some really amazing things. There is a lot of evidence to back those claims up. Not all those stories I know are true but I do believe many of them. As I stated before, I feel these things can be done but most of our minds are not evolved enough yet to perform these tasks. If you can say that you can do this it's not hard to get some witnesses together with a video camera and if it's really slow it's not hard to time lapse a recording to really show it.
So really take a look at what you say and believe and really try and separate what is your opinion and what is truth. You might quickly just find how much in life is really opinion and beliefs and not fact.
