I have to have this!! I want that!! You've heard or said those two lines numerous times I'm sure. Hopefully less of it if at all lately but it's still two lines commonly heard. Many people want things but do they really need them. I walk into my fathers house for example and he has a 72 inch television with full surround sound, satellite radio, more ocmputers then I can count, all sorts of toys for the computers, etc.. My brothers who are still very young have computers in their rooms, MP3 players, and tons of PS2 games. I look around and think do they really need all of this. There are probably 7 computers and 4 TV's in a house that has 4 people. My dad, stepmother, and my two brothers. I have possessions but at the same time i do not go overboard and if I lost any one of them I would not be truamatized or anything like that. In my fathers home they have high attachments to these possessions. When I was over there a while ago the MP# player was stolen and you would have thought someone died in the family.
Clear your mind of all your possessions. Now sit down and make a list from scratch as if you had nothing. Now look that list over and compare it to what you have in your home. Is there a lot of consistency or is there a huge difference between the two. There is a difference between need and want. Be careful not to convince yourself that a want is a need. Most of the time that is not the case. When making a decision, especially on a larger purchase don't buy it right away. Wait 48 hours and then come back and decide if you need or want it. Many times used cars salesmen hate when you go home ot think about it because rarely do you ever go back. Just look around at how businesses work. It's all about the now because if customers sit and think about it for 48 hours most of them will realize they don't need the specific item. So be careful you do not begin justifying your wants as needs.
