I have always said you should not change who you are just to fit in with a group of people or a belief system. However, there is a part of that, that has gone at least unspoken. If you don't like who you are there is nothing wrong with changing the aspects of yourself that you do not like into something you do like and want. Don't change them though as I say above just to fit in or don't change them for the sake of change. Change them because YOU want it to happen. The first thing you need to ask yourself is, are you serious about this and do you REALLY want to make this change. If the answer is yes, then you can honestly begin moving forward. Sometimes people will be afraid or nervous to make this change due to many reasons, it could be fear of what you could become, maybe with this change you will take on more responsibility, it could be a number of things. To have someone there who can just listen and be words of encouragement and wisdom is nice to have. To have someone there whether it is in person or just over the computer that isn't going to judge you but rather listen to you and work through things with you. Not to do something for you but they will help you in helping yourself. Change can be a scary thing to some at first but what you need to do is clear your mind and see the goal you are working towards. If it is something you really want and you are committed to reaching your goal then no one and nothing will ever be able to stop you. So if you want to make a change in your life you need to ask yourself if you are ready, then set yourself some goals along the way that work towards what you want in the end and if you need someone to just be there for you don't be afraid to ask, you might be surprised at what happens
