Think for a minute about the way a diamond is cut. It's meant to be set in a ring, so only one face of it really matters, really has to look nice...right? But that's not entirely the case. The way the one flat side of that diamond looks is dependent upon how all the other sides of it look. You can look at it one way, and you see a single side. There's many facets inside of it, but they're all reflected in (contained in?) that single side. Or you can turn it another way, and see all manner of sides. It's almost like a cone, but with many many triangles coming together to make it. It's got all different sides, and it wouldn't be what it is without all those sides, but they're different sides nonetheless.
That's kinda how I see the Force and its nature. There's two different perspectives, neither right nor wrong, and possibly other perspectives that haven't occurred to me. One is of multiple seperate sides that together form one thing; the other is that the one thing is percieved as having many sides.

I agree with you on that one. The idea of Light and Dark and a strict segregation of the two does not make sense. It is more complex than that. I often think of the polarities of a magnet or even this complex shape: scientificsonline.com/product.asp?pn=3151544&cmss=calabi+yau&bhcd2=1231431785We are used to four dimensions: three physical dimensions plus time. In actuality, there are 10 (some say 11) dimensions. I personally believe that those other dimensions are where the Force is.

That's not only really beautiful, but an even better analogy. Thanks for sharing it. Mn, I know what to get you for Christmas, too. xD

No need, I bought one. I just had to have it. It has become a sort of object of meditation. Thanks for the thought, though.

Object of meditation? Like watching a candle flame without burning your eyes? That's a brilliant idea. :3

It draws you in because from each angle you look at it, it looks totally different. The eye cannot see how it connects together. You can imagine yourself flowing through it, getting lost. The shape comes from string theory. According to this theory, all is made up of tiny vibrating strings of energy. The strings are way smaller than atoms, even way smaller than atomic particles. They make up what becomes atomic particles and are therefore the smallest things in existence. Each string has a different vibration much like a string on a musical instrument. The vibration determines what sort of particle it will make. The particles make up the atoms, and the atoms make up all matter. They are little loops of vibrating energy. They are the most basic of energy. These strings live in 10 dimensions only three dimensions and time are the ones we see. The calabi yau (that shape) represent six tiny curled up dimensions where the strings live. The shape of these give the strings their particular vibration much like a trumpet causing a sound because of the shape of the pathway of the air being blown through it. I like this theory because what it is saying is that all energy and matter are derived from the Force. The Norse runes are very similar in concept to this idea. This is a new theory and yet it is similar to some very ancient ideas about what makes up all reality. When you get broadband capabilities, you should watch THE ELEGANT UNIVERSE (NOVA) with Brian Greene. It explains this new theory. www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/program.html

I got my internet up and running late last night, as of today I have broadband!!! *goes to watch* It sounds interesting, but I'm not well enough educated to understand all of that very well. I do understand it more than the description on the website though!
