I believe that the ultimate goal for both sith and jedi is to become one with the force in some abstract way. The last line of jedi code is "there is no death; there is only the force" the last line of sith code is "through victory my chains are broken". They say that jedi gain power through understanding and sith gain understanding through power, but when you closely examine these two vastly different philosophies, you'll see that they truly seek neither power nor understanding. In the end, like all religions, the idea of being a sith or a jedi is to insure a good afterlife. To attain a good afterlife, one must ascend the physical body and "become one with the force" even sith, rather than being spirits, should become one with darkness inorder to be complete. How does one reach ascendance though? One might think if the answer could be so readily achieved we would all have ascended by now, but the key is that our thoughts have been limiting and restricting us, defining our world for us rather than allowing us to define our own world. Be mindful of your body, then be mindful of what is outside of your body, then be mindful of your world, and finally, be mindful of what lies beyond even that. Rather than thinking under conventional terms, feel and be aware, this is how to ascend, a field of energy doesn't think, it is, and to be it you must feel it. Emotions are the means to an end and not the end itself, as is restraint, keep in mind what your goal truly is. Ascending isn't so much about having a good afterlife, it is to become the field and thus achieve both ultimate knowledge, peace, power, and understanding. I am beginning more and more to understand the true nature of power, and it goes beyond moving objects or producing energy, it is about having the ultimate awareness, a sense of the universe, it isn't about trying to control it, control comes through awareness, after all, how many problems have you fixed without being able to see or work with them. The key to power and knowledge is to live in the moment, and feel rather than think.
