as i posted in the sith section i am questioning the two orders to see which one fits me. Question #1: what made you decide to become a jedi rather then the seemingly easier path of the sith?

Because I've always been about helping others. Kinda comes with the job description (Military Police), lol. I've always wanted to do Dolphin-Assisted therapy as well. Which is another, "helping-others" type of job.
I'm the type of person you will rarely see NOT smiling. Even when things are down, I tried to pick myself back up so I can try and plague others with "bright, light, happy thoughts" ^^

It is not a question of the path that it easier, it is of personal choice. I myself do not believe the Force has sides, we make the choice. Not the Force.

oh yeah, well as much as it pains me to say this, cuz I have always liked the idea that the force came in different flavors, I would have to say from experience that jedisin808 is right. The force naturally has no good or evil attatched to it, and even if you use it for "evil purposes" still has no evil associated with it. Nor good, the true choice between jedi and sith is not a choice between using the light or the dark side of the force, but rather think of it this way "the sith gain understanding through power, the jedi gain power through understanding." Your beliefs in what the force can offer will be the deciding factor in what effects it truly has on you. Instead of trying to choose a side, perhaps you should first figure out where you want to be in life, and determine whether that can be achieved by calm understanding or power and force of will. Then the way my status got changed to sith is because on my first post of the forum, I just said "I am a sith etc..." and it was set that way the next morning before I ever realized what the difference was. So just clearly state which side you're on once you've decided what is more in line with the goals you already have prior to asking what differences there are.

question 2: have you ever thought of joining the sith? if so how did you get back on the path of the Jedi?
