Size Matters Not
In Star Wars episode V Yoda said to Luke “Size matters not”. This Jedi concept is one taken very literal. The size of something does not matter. One reason for this is that size does not actually exist. You can’t say how big or small something is until it is compared to something else. For example I am big to some people and small to other. So what am I? Am I big or am I small? I am neither. Size is what people use to compare something so in reality size does not exist. Another reason Jedi do not concern themselves with size is that by judging things by size you limit your ability. If you see a box, that you want to lift but it is bigger than you. A Jedi will not worry about its size. If they go oh its too big for me to lift they put a limit on their ability making it a lot harder to lift because their mind has that limit in their mind. If a person doesn’t take notice of it size and just lifts it and perseveres with the box the person will have no problem lifting and moving it. Another thing Yoda said in episode V is “You must unlearn what you have learned”. This is very useful to someone learning the ways of the force, and probably useful for those not learning to. In your mind you have learned that that box is big and it will be hard to lift. By unlearning that you will see it for what it truly is and not for its size. This is what Jedi do. When Luke tried to lift the X-Wing out of the water in episode 5 he has in his mind that it was to big to lift. He had learned that it size was big therefore he thought it was impossible. However Yoda did not worry about its size. Size matters not. Therefore Yoda was able to take it out of the water. This is a great Jedi concept and should be taught to anyone who has limits of things in their mind.
