The meditation I use the most often is the Fourfold Breath one. It's often taught in many corners, including in the ceremonial magick communities of the Golden Dawn and Thelema. It is very simple but extremely effective in helping to calm and center the mind: 1) Inhale for a count of four 2) Hold your breath for a count of four 3) Exhale for a count of four 4) Hold for a count of four And...repeat.... I recommend doing this meditation for whenever you would normally meditate, whenever negative thoughts arise, whenever emotions such as fear or anger overwhelm you, and even when undergoing any sort of physical pain. When I got my tattoo on my back (a blue rose) I was under the needle for forty-five minutes while bent over a table in a position that would've been uncomfortable under normal circumstances. Add the pain that arises from getting tattoos (especially when it went over my spine...ouch) and enduring this for forty-five minutes isn't exactly easy! But I did this exact meditation and it helped me to rise above the pain. I still felt it but I was able to sit still and endure it. On the whole, I think that alone is an advocacy for this meditation. Sometimes the simplest methods work the best! ~Alena
