Weapons to me are the soul of the user. Weapons are not only apart of the of user, but(if a hand weapon) a extension of the arm. To be one with your weapon is to master the weapon and the pulse inside it. A sword can not know you only you can know your sword. This takes a rather need of time and patients. Time to get to know your weapon and patients to use it effectively. You also need to take care of your weapon for obvious reasons. If you do not care for your weapon the feeling will be mutual. It is also good to name your weapon give both of you a seance of individualism.

Thank you for this site Venku. Now I can begin my training saber combat. Shii Cho, Soresu, and most importanly Juyo will serve me well.

Juyo is an extraordinary technique that takes many years of preparation. Do it last.

It's been my experience that the fictional lightsaber forms can be more than just certain ways of wielding a blade, they can also be a state of mind, or an embodiement of a certain message.

Truly Alena is right, weapons do reveal the soul of the user. When I first started Aikido I purchased a very nice white oak bokken, unhappy with its plain appearance I got a woodburner and etched runes of sort into it. Over the years its picked up its share of little dents scratches and scuffs.. I polish and sand it lightly every so often and though there are most likely better weapons or cooler ones this one is mine. It resonates with my spirit, without trying to sound to melodramatic it has become my friend.
