The hardest part about fitness and exercise, I think, is the part where you continually do it despite the fact that at the beginning the only 'effects' are that you're sore all over. One part that helps me out is the fact that my wife hired a personal trainer for me that I actually like. She's a friend now, and if I don't show, she'll call. I think every tip list about motivation includes do it with a friend. But if your friends aren't motivated -either-...it's moot. I think a better one is to make friends with your trainer.
Does anyone have any other suggestions on motivation?

Yeah bring the regularity and continuity in your workout routine if you want to be fit, and active permanently. If you do your exercise for some period and then you give it up, you can get your fitness purposes.
